IS 1161 Circular Hollow Sections (CHS) Manufacturer, Supplier & Exporter – Structural Steel Tubes for Engineering & Fabrication

Inox Steel India is a leading manufacturer and supplier of IS 1161 Circular Hollow Sections (CHS), delivering structural-quality ERW tubes engineered for construction, fabrication, machinery frameworks, architectural supports, and infrastructure applications. Manufactured strictly as per IS 1161:2014, our CHS tubes offer consistent dimensional accuracy, dependable mechanical properties, and excellent weldability for a wide range of static and dynamic structural designs.

IS 1161 is the Indian standard governing structural steel circular hollow sections. These tubes are widely used for load-bearing structures, trusses, towers, frames, pole fabrication, mechanical supports, and general engineering applications. Available in grades YSt 210, YSt 240, YSt 310, and YSt 355, IS 1161 CHS provides a reliable strength-to-weight ratio suitable for both medium and heavy-duty structures.

Inox Steel India supplies a broad dimensional range of structural CHS:

  • Diameter Range: 21.3 mm to 508 mm OD
  • Wall Thickness: 1.5 mm to 20 mm
  • Lengths: 6m, 12m, or custom cut

Our products adhere to strict tolerances for OD, wall thickness, straightness, and weld quality, making them suitable for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects across India, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

How IS 1161 Circular Hollow Sections Are Manufactured

IS 1161 CHS are produced through a high-precision forming and welding process designed to ensure structural reliability and consistent performance.

1️ Coil Selection & Slitting

High-quality structural steel coils are selected and slit to precise widths to match the required CHS dimensions.

2️ Forming into Circular Shape

The steel strip is progressively rolled into a circular shape using a multi-stage forming mill to achieve uniform rounding.

3️ High-Frequency ERW Welding

Edges are fused using high-frequency induction welding (HFIW), ensuring a strong and continuous weld seam suitable for structural use.

4️ Weld Bead Removal & Sizing

Internal and external weld beads are removed (if required), followed by precise sizing rolls to achieve accurate OD and thickness.

5️ Straightening & Finishing

Tubes undergo straightening to maintain structural accuracy, followed by surface finishing—black, oiled, or galvanized depending on requirement.

6️ Mechanical & Dimensional Testing

Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and weld integrity are tested to ensure full IS 1161 compliance.

7️ Final Inspection & Documentation

Each batch is inspected for dimensional tolerances, weld quality, and surface condition, accompanied by IS-compliant MTCs.

This controlled manufacturing route results in strong, durable, and fabrication-friendly CHS sections ideal for structural work.
