🔍 What Are Spiral Welded Pipes?

Spiral Welded Pipes are manufactured by forming a steel coil into a helical shape and welding the adjoining edges using submerged arc welding (internal + external) to produce a high-strength, long-length, large-diameter pipe. Also known as Spiral Weld Pipe, Spiral Submerged Arc Welded Pipe (SSAW), Helical SAW Pipe, HSAW Pipe, or Spiral Welded Steel Pipe. How Spiral Welded Pipes Are Manufactured

  1. Coil Preparation & Edge Milling: High-quality steel coils (IS 2062 / API 5L) are uncoiled, leveled, and edge-milled for perfect fit-up.
  2. Helical Forming: The coil is fed at a specific angle, creating a continuous helical seam—allowing production of any diameter.
  3.  Internal SAW (i-SAW): The inside seam is welded with deep penetration to ensure maximum weld strength.

  5. Expanding & Sizing: Pipe is expanded hydraulically to reduce residual stresses and improve roundness/accuracy.
